Could You tell why my hair is getting thin?

Well, here is the thing. I am almost 20 years old and I have always had a very good hair for the last 18 years, but recently, I started noticing, that for some reason my thick hair, is getting thinner. Basically saying that follicals on my head have been having some trouble growing some thick hair, it is thin, therefore when I wet it the hair sticks together leaving spots showing the skin on my head. When I don't have it wet, it is really hard to notice that my hair is thin since it is properly distributed and not sticky.

To give you a better idea let me show you that if my hair used to be 2 foot thick (as example) it is only 1 foot now.

I went to a doctor and the did a thyroid check and it is normal.

I have also been using moose and gel for 18 years and never had this problem, it all happened recently. Non of family member have any problems with that, not even my (dead) great grandfathers did.

Could you please advice what is wrong and what should I do?

It very well could be from all the VOC's and chlorine bi-products like "Trihaleomethane's" or "THM's" in your water supply when you shower or take a bath. Please consider some sort of shower filter or whole home water purification system that will leave in the natural trace minerals and still remove chlorine and chlorine/disinfectant bi-products that can damage hair, skin, and other parts of your body when inhaled or absorbed through your skin.

I got a shower filter about a year ago and my hair has stopped falling out and my skin looks better than it has since I was 16. I recommend the Aquasana brand filter, but any filter is better than no filter! Try it, if I am wrong after you use one for a week, I will dance naked in front of a crowd of people. Guarantee it.

Get over it. If you go bald like lots of other people, you have to come to terms with it....

PS dont wear some hampster on your head, spary your head some "natural" color or anything like that. Like yourself...

Usually this happens because of genetics, but sometimes people just randomly start losing their hair. It may be due to overstyling, but in your case that probably not true. Just deal with it! It's a part of life and aging - like wrinkles and gaining weight. Just go with it and try and get over the self-conciousness!

Stress is a big factor in losing hair, drugs, hormones are another, poor nutrition/lack of certain vitamins/minerals. Dr. might have checked your Thyroid but there are alot of other things he should have checked. Maybe it's glandular and you need to see an Endocrinologist. You are your best detector of what's been going on in your life to know how far to search for the answer.

ALOPECIA is the name of the condition you have. It is often caused by stress sometimes by illness. It is a temporary situation. Once your stress level lessens your hair will come back. Collage can be very stressful at times.
