Ask a professional stylist. All I can say is that I've had perms, and as long as you go to a stylist, it would be worth a shot. The newer perms are pretty good. I've had "ISO" permanents.

no it wont be a good idea. and i know for those who have thin hair, the perm doesnt usually last long. it will straighten with time. a lot of maintainence has to be done in order to keep it in its original lustre. so i would suggest not to perm it... if you want, make it wavier, but i strongly suggest not perming it.
